Kipps: The New Half a Sixpence – The Hexagon – Reading

15th May – 18th May 2024 (7:30pm) – Book tickets now!

Reading’s award-winning Sainsbury Singers are back at The Hexagon again presenting ‘Kipps: The New Half a Sixpence Musical’ — a fresh, fun and energetic romp set against the backdrop of a turn-of-the-century seaside town. It’ll leave you toe-tapping to the mix of well known classics from the original version alongside the joyful new numbers. A timeless but family favourite, that will leave you smiling the whole way home. (17th May – 20th May – including Saturday matinee 2:30pm)

In a timeless story of money, class and love, we meet Arthur Kipps, an orphan and over-worked draper’s assistant at Shalford’s Bazaar in Folkestone in the early 1900s. He’s a charming but ordinary young man who, along with his fellow apprentices, dreams of a better and more fulfilling life. When he unexpectedly inherits a fortune that propels him into high society, it confuses everything he thought he knew.

Starring once again Caterlink’s Stephen Cox (Pierce) & Chris Thomas (Sid) as Kipps’ fellow Apprentices. (You may also recognise a couple of the performers from Thames Valley Park!)

On Friday, the 17th, there will be a performance with British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation, featuring an accredited signer who will sign the entire show live from the side of the stage.
