Thames Valley Park Management are collaborating with the Wokingham Waterside Centre to host a free clean-up event in aid of World Environment Day.
The theme of World Environment Day is ‘Only One Earth’, highlighting the need to live sustainably in harmony with nature. In support of World Environment Day, TVP are inviting park employees to join the River Thames clean up event on Wednesday, 8 June from 12:30pm – 1:30pm at the Wokingham Waterside Centre. Working together to clean up the river promotes change by working towards a cleaner and greener lifestyle.
TVP hosted a clean up event in July 2019 where 65 employees from Oracle, Microsoft and opentext came together as a team to remove plastic, general waste, and bicycles from the water. Since the last event, five occupiers have moved into TVP, including Sanofi, HP, Pexip, FSP and North Gate, all who have a keen interest in sustainability and goal setting.
Microsoft, Pexip, Sanofi, opentext, FSP, Savills (TVP Management) and Now Building management will join up and take part in this year’s fun activity. Paddleboarding, kayaking and katakanuing will be on offer, along with the provision of life jackets for every individual and on hand water instructors.
Other companies across the park will be taking part in their own environmental related initiatives to meet their CSR objectives. One example includes HP will be hosting their own employee litter pick across their three offices in the UK. The Reading office based at Thames Valley Park will see a litter pick across common areas of the park including the meadow, nature reserve and main pathways through the business park.
General Manager, Rachael Millward said “The 2019 event was so successful, and occupiers involved in the TVP Sustainability group are already really excited for this event. All the waste that is retrieved from the river, and riverbank will be disposed of with our waste contractor Grundon. Grundon avoids sending to waste landfill by converting waste to energy”.
All spaces for this event are now full. For more information or to register your interest for similar events, please email General Manager, Rachael Millward at Rachael.millward@savillspm.co.uk.
