Something colourful is coming to the tunnel at Thames Valley Park.

Following the success of his previous artwork at TVP, artist Captain Kris is returning to transform the park’s tunnel and surrounding walls with a new, nature-inspired mural.

Work is planned to take place throughout October, bringing a bold new visual identity to the tunnel approaches, retaining walls and tunnel interior. The artwork will feature a mix of wildlife, water, landscape and activity, with bright blue, green and white graphic elements designed to reflect the natural energy of Thames Valley Park.

The first stage will see the existing external retaining wall transformed, featuring imagery inspired by the park itself, including rowing, water, wildlife and a striking kingfisher. The tunnel interior will then follow, with swans, fish, birds, foliage and other elements of the surrounding landscape woven into the design.

There will also be opportunities for the TVP community to get involved as the mural takes shape. Selected areas of the tunnel may be made available for occupiers to contribute to, with further details to be announced once plans are confirmed.

The mural will be completed in phases, with work carefully managed to maintain a pedestrian route through the tunnel while painting takes place.

The project is currently scheduled to run until 27 October, subject to weather, drying conditions, site access and the progress of the mural.

Keep an eye out as the tunnel gets a whole new look this October.
